Keenan Johnston Much like the vast astral landscape depicted on the cover, the latest album from The Chasm is a far-reaching and mystical experience. Vocals are reduced to a supporting role, being present on only about half the tracks here and giving the guitars the prominence they've always commanded. There is a renewed aggression on this material, which while varied is always delivered with absolute conviction. Precise and powerful while retaining the spectral aura unique to The Chasm; highly recommended. Favorite track: Fiery Rebirth.

Rehan Weber Death Metal masterpiece by one of the best death metal bands. Right up there with Altars of Madness. Such a shame that this band isn't bigger. Favorite track: Callous Spectre/Vehement Opposition.

The long and short of it is this: Starspawn is a modern take on an old-school sound that does it better than its forefathers ever did.
